Are you too busy to notice a new sound coming from your car? I was!

I’ve worked in an auto repair shop for 28 years. I know how important it is to have any new noise checked.  But, I’ve been under a lot of stress. I’ve made at least eighty 2 hour round trips to Kentucky in the last two years helping to care for my elderly mother, all the while trying to keep up with work in the office, and chores at home.  A recorded book really helped me cope with the travel time, but I guess I got so engrossed in the story, I didn’t hear the noise at first. My daughter traveled with me recently and pointed it out, and I vowed to tell the guys at work as soon as I returned.  Then, I forgot.

Days later when my husband drove my car, he heard the noise and pointed out that I was 1000 miles past due for my oil change.  So finally, my attention is focused on my car.  The alternator proved to be the source of the noise.   I know the importance of regular maintenance, and tending to the faulty alternator before it becomes a bigger problem, leaving me stranded alongside the road!  But circumstances caused me to push  it to the bottom of the list this time.  John Lennon wrote, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.”  Even I, a professional in the automotive industry, ignored the warning signs under stress.

You may be under stress as well. You may hear a noise and forget to tell someone, or it may start so gradually you aren’t aware of it. Do you listen to music, talk radio, or a recorded book instead of your car? That’s why building time for regular maintenance into your schedule is so important.  During that 4000 mile service, we routinely perform a 30 point inspection.  If you’ve been diligent with these appointments, we can usually give you a heads up that you might need something in the future – giving you time to budget and plan for the service. That’s so much better than, “surprise, you need brakes today!

Why not let us take care of you the same way your dentist does? We can schedule your next visit while you are here getting today’s service. We’ll send you an appointment reminder by text or email a few days before, and if you find it is not convenient, simply reschedule the appointment with no problem.  You can also request an appointment on line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from our Face book page or website  www.MyCentralGarage.com.  You’ll be given several dates to choose from and we will confirm your choice on our next business day.  It’s fast and easy!  But  appointments can still be made the old fashioned way by phone call.
